The Beaches of Helsinki: Länsiulapanniemi
In the south-western corner of Lauttasaari, Länsiulapanniemi, there is a nice little beach. Surrounded by beautiful cliffs. Lauttasaari is a island west the city of Helsinki. You can get here with metro. Koivusaari metro-station is some 700 north from here.
As I understand the beach is public. However, the sauna (which I understand is also available for rent) and the pier are used by the Helsinki war invalids. There are plenty of cottages and summer residents in the vicinity, including police and HKL staff cottages.
Länsiulapanniemi is well worth a visit, if only for these stunning cliffs. Here's the south side of the beach.
And here from the north. Yes, it's nice to sunbathe. By the way, these pictures are from the beginning of June, summer 2018 was quite warm.
