The Beaches of Espoo: Vilniemi

Vilniemi Beach is located in central Espoo on the western shore of Lippajärvi, in the Lippajärvi district. A small but well-maintained sandy beach deepens gradually. On the other side of the shore, you can see Lippajärvi Beach.

Vilniemi Beach is maintained by the Lippajärveläiset Association. Although the city of Espoo supplies sand and assists with maintenance, Vilniemi is not an official Espoo city beach.

A warm thank you from me to the resident association and its active members. Many don't even know the amount of selfless volunteer work done for the common good, both in Lippajärvi and elsewhere in the city.

Lippajärvi is not very large for a lake, but it has magnificent scenery. Across the lake is the Viherlaakso residential area, and Lippajärvi Beach.

Vilniemi Beach does not have changing rooms or toilets; the only "service" is two benches. The beach is best suited for nearby residents or passers-by, rather than for sunbathing or all-day excursions.

Right next to it is a soccer field where you can work up a sweat before swimming.

If you come by car, you can park in the parking lot along Vilniementie.
