The Tikankierros trail in Central Park is a beautiful, approximately three-kilometer-long nature trail in Espoo Central Park. The route follows old forest paths and offers a variety of scenery, including forests and swamps. The route is marked with yellow, round signs.
The trail starts at Mössenkärr pond, or at least that's how I perceive it. The nature trail intersects with many other outdoor routes, so you can "join" from several points.
Reitit ovat vaihtelevia. Välillä mennään leveitä ja hoidettuja reittejä, välillä pitkospuita ja kapeita polkuja pitkin.
The trails are varied, ranging from wide and well-maintained paths to boardwalks and narrow trails.
There are a few rest areas along the route, as well as traditional meadows. In this context, traditional meadows refer to meadows that have been cultivated for hundreds of years and are kept in good condition.
The company is also great!
There are also hills, as is typical in Espoo. However, there are no climbs like those on the Nuuksio trails.
Then we arrive at the heart of the traditional landscape of the Rönnägen meadow. Perhaps half a kilometer is traversed through the beautiful meadows.
Boardwalks are present in the wettest places. In mid-October, they were also necessary.
There is a magnificent old tree. Note the adjacent foundation of the house. It wasn't very large, so I would guess it was a shed or something similar. It would have been conveniently located next to the fields.
Then we entered the forest again. Walking through the forest in October, during the last weeks of autumn foliage, is exciting when the ground is lit up by the leaves.
One of the more surprising parts of the route is a steep downhill slope into a hollow, with a railing. It can be slippery during icy weather, which is when the railing comes in handy.
And suddenly, at the top of the hill, the forest becomes dry pine forest.
Then we arrive at one of the main arteries of Espoo Central Park. The route from Suna to Puolarmaari is busy and wide. The Tikankierros trail continues straight across the outdoor route.
Towards the end, I believe the Tikankierros trail follows the old "main path" of the Central Park. It's a bit like when a new motorway is built next to existing highways, the same thing seems to have happened to this route. The direction is exactly the same.
Then we arrive back where we started. On the right-hand side of the picture is Mössenkärr, where our trip began.
