The Hiking Trail of Hannusmetsä, Espoo

Hannusmetsän luontopolku, Espoo

The Hannusmetsä Nature Trail circles around Hannus Forest.  The trail is three and a half kilometres long. Although I often find myself wandering around the Hannus Forest in a criss-cross pattern, ending up on the cliffs like this.

The routes are varied. Sometimes you go along paths.

Sometimes the trail is wide.

On the slopes of Bondasbergen there is an early Littoral Devil's Field. I had no idea what that Littoral Sea was like, so here's a snippet from Wikipedia. "The Littoral Sea was a saltier and somewhat wider early phase of the Baltic Sea than today, after Lake Ancylus, about 8 500 to 4 000/2 000 years ago."

Here is a snippet from the City of Espoo website: "The Espoo Hannusjärvi Suojelu ry maintains a 3.5 km nature trail between Lake Hannusjärvi and Länsiväylä. Along the trail there are spruce-wooded forests, pine trees in the rougher parts, salt marshes in the depressions and a bog area on the shore of Lake Hannusjärvi."

From the top of Bondasbergen. The scenery doesn't open up, but here you do feel like you're on high ground.

There is also a small area of marshland in the Hannus Forest.

Here is a map of the Hannusmetsä area. The nature trail and other trails go around practically the entire Hannus Forest area, with trails of varying angles.

On the southern edge of the area is the ever so beautiful Lake Hannusjärvi. There is also an informal swimming area on the shore of Lake Hannusjärvi.
