The Beaches of Raasepori: Gumnäs
The idyllic Gumnäs beach is located in Pohja, Raasepori, by the sea.
It's just over a kilometer to the center of Pohja. Even though there are no houses visible from the beach, there are quite a few residents nearby.
The beach is divided into two parts. First, there is a sandy beach and rocks, and then there is a peninsula with a pier and rocks.
This picture is from the end of the peninsula on the rocks. The pier is visible ahead, and the sandy beach is further away.
Gumnäs beach is indeed by the sea, but on the north shore of a long bay. It's almost ten kilometers south to Tammisaari, and another ten kilometers to the open sea. The seawater here is usually comfortably warm since it's at the end of the bay.
There are a couple of changing booths on the beach.
And an outhouse in the woods.
A little further into the forest, there's also a resting place. It's part of the Gumnäs recreational area's facilities.
Gumnäs is one of about three hundred EU beaches in Finland, which are large public beaches. This means an average of over a hundred visitors per day.
