Espoo's outdoor islands: Korkeasaari
Welcome to Espoo's Korkeasaari. Korkeasaari is located right near the Helsinki border, just barely within Espoo's waters.
The island has low shores and is forested. There are hardly any coastal cliffs available.
The island is 6.5 hectares in size. Camping is not allowed, and there are no services apart from a single campfire grill.
To the east is Niittysaari, which is used as a cottage area.
The center of the island is densely forested. In the middle of the island, you can almost forget that you're on a small island in the sea.
With a name like Korkeasaari ("High Island"), there should be animals, right? In the picture, two deer can be seen moving from the center to the left. They probably came here during the winter over the ice.
The north shore has a fine sandy beach. The sun almost never shines here, and these photos were taken in the evening as the sun was setting.
There's a spot on the nearby rock for grilling.
The most impressive views open up from the west coast. There are high cliffs, and the scenery opens up to neighboring islands.
