The Beaches of Hanko: Lappohja
Hangonniemi has many amazing beaches. One of them is Lappohjanranta located in Lappohja. This natural beach is probably a kilometer long.
The water is shallow and the beach has fine sand.
These pictures are from the summer of 2010. At that time, I didn't photograph beaches systematically, so my archives only have a few random pictures of this beach. Ah, the folly of youth.
Lappohja has about 700 residents. The village has its own small harbor, an M-market, and plenty of beautiful shoreline. "The beach represents the dune beach nature characteristic of southern Hankoniemi. The area is part of the EU's Natura 2000 protected area network. Lappohjanranta is also a functional groundwater area." This excerpt is from Wikipedia.
On the hill is Högsand Holiday and Course Center, maintained by the Finnish Childcare Association.
In the background, you can see the Koverhar factory, which is an impressive sight when lit up in the evening. The factory was closed in the late 2010s.
